About This Role
Carolina Renew's Apprentice Painter program is your entry point into a rewarding career in professional painting. This paid training position provides hands-on learning alongside experienced painters while you develop skills that will serve you throughout your career.
As an Apprentice Painter, you'll work on real projects from day one—learning proper techniques for prep work, paint application, and customer service. Our training program is structured but flexible, meeting you where you are and developing skills systematically.
No previous painting experience is required. We're looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who want to learn a trade. If you show up on time, work hard, and follow instruction, we'll teach you everything you need to know.
Apprentice Painters who complete our program and demonstrate consistent quality advancement to Painter positions within 6-12 months, with corresponding pay increases. Many of our Lead Painters and specialists started in this exact role.
A Day in the Life
Your mentor picks you up at the shop at 7 AM after you've helped load materials. First hour on-site is focused training—today, you're learning to properly prep a wall with existing damage. You patch, sand, and prime while your mentor coaches technique. Mid-morning, you move to an adjacent room to roll walls your mentor has already cut in. After lunch, you're back to learning—spray equipment introduction in a contained area. By 3:30, you're helping clean up and load out. Before leaving, your mentor reviews what you learned and what tomorrow will focus on. Every day you're more capable than the day before.
