About This Role
Carolina Renew is seeking a Deck & Fence Staining Specialist for our expanding exterior services team. This specialized role focuses on restoring and protecting outdoor wood structuresβdecks, fences, pergolas, and moreβthat face Charlotte's challenging climate.
As a Deck & Fence Staining Specialist, you'll assess wood conditions, perform appropriate preparation, and apply protective stains and sealers. You'll develop expertise in wood species, stain products, and application techniques that deliver lasting results.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work and wants to develop specialty expertise. Deck and fence work is highly seasonal in Charlotte, with peak demand March through November, but we maintain year-round staffing with paint support work during slower periods.
We use premium products from Ready Seal, Cabot, and other trusted brands, applying them with professional spray and brush techniques that ensure penetration and longevity.
A Day in the Life
A typical spring day starts at 7 AM loading the trailer with pressure washer, stain, and supplies. On-site by 8, you meet the homeowner and discuss the decades-old deck they want restored. First, thorough power washingβdeck boards, railings, stairs. While that dries, you clean up the patio below. After lunch, you assess moisture levels (waiting for the right conditions) and begin brushing stain into the boards, working systematically to avoid lap marks. By late afternoon, deck boards are complete and curing beautifully. Tomorrow returns for railings and final inspection. The homeowner's amazement at their 'new' deck makes the work worthwhile.
