About This Role

Carolina Renew is expanding our Exterior Painting division and seeking an experienced Crew Lead to manage outdoor painting projects across the Charlotte metropolitan area. This role combines hands-on painting expertise with crew management responsibilities.

As an Exterior Painting Crew Lead, you'll oversee complete home exterior transformations—from initial power washing and prep through final coating applications. You'll manage crew schedules, ensure safety protocols are followed, and maintain direct communication with homeowners throughout each project.

Exterior work in Charlotte means dealing with heat, humidity, and weather variables. The ideal candidate thrives outdoors, can make smart decisions when conditions change, and keeps projects moving despite challenges. You'll lead teams of 2-4 painters and be responsible for quality, timeline, and customer satisfaction.

We specialize in Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore exterior products and use industry-leading equipment. Our Crew Leads receive training on the latest application techniques and product innovations to deliver lasting results that protect and beautify homes.

A Day in the Life

☀️

Your day starts early—meeting your crew at 7 AM to load materials and check weather. On-site by 7:30, you lead prep work: power washing, scraping loose paint, repairing damaged siding. Mid-morning, you're applying primer while training a newer team member on edging technique. After lunch, spray work begins on main surfaces. You're constantly moving—checking quality, adjusting for wind, communicating with the homeowner about timeline. By 4 PM, you're documenting progress and prepping for tomorrow. When the job wraps later that week, seeing the homeowner's reaction to their home's transformation is the best part of the job.

Lead exterior painting crews on residential projects
Coordinate power washing, scraping, sanding, and surface preparation
Apply primers, paints, and stains to siding, trim, doors, and shutters
Operate and maintain spray equipment, pressure washers, and ladders

Conduct quality inspections at each project phase
Train crew members on proper exterior painting techniques

Maintain clean, organized job sites
Ensure proper cleanup and waste disposal
