Vinyl: The Heat Problem Nobody Mentions
Vinyl siding paint lasts roughly 5-10 years, with Angi noting it tends to falter around the 10-year mark even under decent conditions - UV breaks down the vinyl itself over time, and the paint film on top ages with it.
Vinyl has a failure mode wood and fiber cement do not: heat absorption. A dark color absorbs more solar heat than the original factory shade the panel was engineered for, and that extra heat can warp or buckle the vinyl underneath - a substrate problem, not a paint problem.
